Fri, October 20, 2006 - 5:30 PMi'm new in town... well, i was around for a spell last year.
i find Go! Sushi to beyond belief. after scouring the city for stellar sushi, i had turned my nose up at the sashimi in an old diner, until i actually went there.
kyoto disappointed me during my trips there.
can anyone recommend an indian house?

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Tue, October 14, 2003 - 4:23 PMI like Royal China in Murray. They are ajust tiny and relatively unheard of family owned business, but the food is the best I've found. I had access to so many great Chinese retaurants in california, and searched and searched for some as good when I came back here. Finally found them. Way good!

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Tue, October 21, 2003 - 9:29 AMOh, my gosh... there's a tiny little restaurant in Provo called Osaka that I absolutely love. It's amazing.
Also, I tend to gravitate toward the Shops at Riverwoods for some reason... both Macaroni Grill and Bajio's are amazing. (Bajio's chicken nachos are literally the. best. thing. ever. Marinated in lime juice. Go, now, I tell you! Quickly!)
-
Re: Favorite Restaurants
Tue, October 21, 2003 - 10:05 AMI like Osaka... but their service has always seemed slow. Bajia's is mighty tasty... Cafe Rio is also very (very!) good.

Sat, January 3, 2004 - 9:22 AMThe Soup Kitchen in Sugarhouse--21st and 11th--for uh, soup. I used to eat there practically every day when i lived in SL. probably 'cause I worked there and the food was free. And yet I never got tired of it.

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Sat, January 3, 2004 - 4:38 PMFirst of all, Chevy's Fresh Mex is pretty dang good light Mexican food...they use light oils instead of lard, etc. etc. and they make the best Tortillas in the world with "El Machino." hehe funny name. Los Hermanos is also pretty good Mexican, but they pile on the filler lettuce in every single dish...if I wanted a salad, I would've gone to Sweet Tomatoes.
For Italian, I have to go with Olive Garden...even though they are also a chain, they are the best chain Italian out there. Tucci's made me very sick...so I don't like them anymore.
Romano's Macaroni Grill is pretty good as well, but you have to be in the mood. Their food is pretty heavy compared to The Olive Garden.
For Chinese, P F Changs China Bistro is the only name worth my time. It is the best in SLC.
Cowboy Grub is pretty good classic American food, but we have recipies that rival theirs so we don't go there often. But for those who don't cook at all, it's pretty good food.
Little America Hotel's Restuarant is pretty good, and their steak is fantastic.

You guys must have *moved* here ...
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 5:37 PM... or someone would have listed Chuck-A-Rama.
Hell, they sponsor U of U sports. Many U of U athletes have been shot in their parking lots.
And Thursdays are Fake Mexican Day. See you there.

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Fri, January 23, 2004 - 1:49 AMCall me a simple little lad, but I like betos for mexican food. True you have to wipe the roaches off the food, and you have to speak the language. If you survive the food poisoning, you are sure to have a tasty treat.
Oh yeah and redrock cafe, just to prove that I have some class. -

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Sat, January 24, 2004 - 11:59 PM_BETOS_?!?
Oh, Donald. That's just gross.
I eat there, come away nautious, and (I expect) just a little more radioative, promising that I'll never eat there again... only to return a few months later confusing Betos with some other hell-hole.
Thrice bitten...
For "authentic" Mexican, I much prefer El Azteca (the taco shop, not their restaurant).
Now Redrock... well, they're at least edible... Though for finger-licking food, I like the Trolley Cafe in Springville, or Bubba's in (I think) Sugarhouse.

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Sun, February 22, 2004 - 9:25 AMI'm pretty fond of Mr. Z's italian cafe: simple food and pleasant servers - no pretense! Reminds me of the kind of little eateries you find in real cities!
Weekend brunch at Squatters can be tasty, tho' there's always Ruths and/or The Eating Establishment in PC.
Evenings are often best served by Gastronomy's mini-galaxy o'restaurants (I like fish). For sushi, I'm fond of Shogun and Ginza.
Still, the food selection here makes me sooooo miss Seattle ...

Re: Favorite Restaurants
Wed, May 26, 2004 - 12:04 AMGod, forgot!!!
Mama's Southern Plantation- Soul
Market Street- seafood(avoid most seafood in SLC , for obvious reasons...)
aw..jeez if you get into the area, Kamas Kafe in Kamas(don't let the building, emloyees, or decor fool you..) fantasically decadent trad/unique breakfast menu...the "sammak sandwich" is lovely-and heart stopping..two giant homemade pancakes, stuffed with slices of crisp bacon , topped with two eggs...I like to add swiss cheese,(imitation, of course) maple syrup, and hot sauce..
A really goofy place in the 'burbs has TERRIFIC fish Taco's its called "Lone Star Taqueria"...
...relating to the above posts, I find that the Beto's chain(and variants) to be singularly excellent in certian respects, and the assumtion that they are unhygenic is somewhat slanderous, I highly recommend the Chili Relleno burrito (really a Burro..), and other menu Items are at least good, and authentic to the western mexican border regions(except baja is pretty shabbily represented, as the fish taco's are pretty much garbage..)
Log Haven- rustic fusion...some very good chefs work here
Le Bistro- tasty casual french
oh! ...Blue Plate diner!, inexpensive and traditional diner/american, the "retro" theme is a little overdone, but the food is good and portions are ample...
My House...we specialise in grilled/barbecued meat, your choice or ours, smoked ribs(wood used subject to availability), or smoked anything else, Carne Asada(24 hour notice...),grilled steak(subject to good beef availability..)cheap soda, good local beer, Martini's to order, and depending on your taste, decent music and company, outdoor seating and limited....

Mon, June 7, 2004 - 7:15 PMGood on you for sticking up for Betos. There's only one I'm not very happy with (the one on 4th South could use a little squeegeeing) but no one I know has ever gotten sick on the best late nite SLC has to offer. (Bless 'em for staying up for the insomniacs among us)

Fri, July 23, 2004 - 3:33 PMAbout Betos: I'm not condemning the entire chain (who knew they had a chain? my word our standards have fallen...), my only experience has been with the one in Provo --- and they're a hell hole. -
